About
The Story Behind & VNTG
We started this because we kept falling in love with furniture that happened to be decades old. Not because it was vintage, but because it was simply better made – the kind of pieces where someone had clearly spent time getting the details right.
Finding the Good Stuff
Our days are spent tracking down authentic vintage furniture and mid century furniture that still has years of service ahead. We have a particular soft spot for Danish design and the clean lines of Scandinavian makers who understood that good furniture doesn’t need to shout to make an impact.
We’re drawn to pieces with solid construction, thoughtful proportions and materials that age beautifully rather than just wearing out. Sometimes it’s a designer name everyone recognises – think G Plan, Ercol, or those iconic Danish pieces that defined an era. Other times it’s an anonymous maker who just happened to nail the design.
We travel, we dig, we follow leads and occasionally we get lucky. But mostly it’s about having a good eye and being willing to see potential where others might just see old furniture.
What We Actually Do
When we find something special, we bring it back to our workshop and figure out exactly what it needs. Maybe it’s just a thorough clean and some fresh wax.
Sometimes it needs new webbing or a careful repair to a joint that’s seen better days. We never change what makes a piece special – we just help it be the best version of itself.
Why This Matters
There’s something satisfying about rescuing furniture that was built to last and giving it another chapter. These pieces were made during an era when furniture was an investment, not a disposable purchase. The Danish makers especially understood this – they used real wood, proper joints and finishes that were meant to develop character over time.
We’re not trying to save the world, but we do think there’s value in keeping well-made things in circulation rather than starting from scratch every time.
Our Customers Get It
The people who find us tend to appreciate the difference between something that’s genuinely well-made and something that just looks the part. They understand that a piece with a bit of history often has more personality than something fresh off the production line.
We’re here for people who’d rather have one great piece than three okay ones, and who see furniture as something to live with rather than just something to fill space.
