Rohé Noordwolde

Rohé Noordwolde was a Dutch furniture manufacturer based in Noordwolde, a small town in Friesland with a remarkable rattan and wicker heritage stretching back to 1825. By the end of the 19th century, Noordwolde had become a centre of cottage industry wicker production, creating over 200,000 articles annually. Rohé Noordwolde continued this tradition into the mid-20th century, collaborating with talented designers like Dirk van Sliedrecht to bring Dutch modernist sensibilities to traditional rattan craft. The company produced a wide range of furniture including dining chairs, lounge chairs, sun beds, and baby cradles, combining black enameled metal frames with carefully woven rattan and bamboo. Rohé Noordwolde furniture represents an important bridge between Netherlands’ craft heritage and post-war modern design, with pieces that remain highly sought after for their quality construction and distinctive Dutch aesthetic.
