Herbert Hirche (1910-2002) was a German architect and furniture designer associated with the modernist movement and strongly influenced by the Bauhaus. His work is characterised by clean lines, functional construction and an understated approach to form, often combining timber with steel.
During his career Hirche designed furniture, interiors and architectural projects, creating pieces that reflected the simplicity and practicality of post-war European modernism. His furniture designs remain sought after today for their sculptural shapes and thoughtful proportions.
