Four Vintage Leather MG5 Cantilever Chairs Designed by Matteo Grassi
£1,395.00
In stock
A striking set of cantilever chairs in thick cognac leather with tubular chrome frames, closely following the Matteo Grassi MG5 model produced in Italy during the 1980s.
These chairs draw on the pioneering Bauhaus cantilever designs of Mart Stam and Marcel Breuer, reinterpreted with luxurious saddle-hide leather and refined Italian craftsmanship.
Features:
- Hand-stitched, continuous leather seat, back and arms in saddle hide
- Wrapped armrests with folded edges, consistent with Matteo Grassi’s MG5
- Heavy tubular chrome cantilever frame – strong, sculptural and flexible
- Warm patina and natural wear, enhancing their vintage character
While these chairs are unstamped, their design and build quality are in line with Matteo Grassi’s MG5 production and are often confused with Breuer’s Thonet S34.
Perfect as dining, desk or occasional chairs, they remain icons of Bauhaus-inspired modernism.
Very good vintage condition with minor age-related wear to the leather. Chrome frames are in excellent order.
