Mid century 4 drawer chest of drawers by Avalon, made in teak with carved afrormosia lip handles. Clean, simple lines with that warm contrast between the teak fronts and darker solid handles that gives it just enough detail without overdoing it.
The four full-width drawers offer plenty of storage and all run smoothly. The carved pull handles are a nice feature - subtle, sculptural, and very much in keeping with the look of the piece. Raised on a plinth base, which keeps the overall shape low and streamlined.
Nicely made, with a good warm tone throughout and plenty of figuring across the teak grain. A practical piece that would work just as well in a bedroom as it would in a hallway or living space.
Avalon were a British furniture manufacturer producing well-made, design-led pieces through the 1950s–1970s. Often slightly under the radar compared to some of the bigger names, but consistently good quality – clean lines, thoughtful detailing and solid construction. Pieces like this are a good example of that understated, functional mid century style done properly.
In very good condition overall. A smart, useful chest with good proportions and a classic mid century look.

Avalon was a British furniture manufacturer from the 1960s-70s, known for teak and afromosia storage furniture with Danish-influenced design.
Their sideboards and chest of drawers feature clean lines, tapered legs, and quality construction with dovetail drawers and solid frames. Often similar in style to G-Plan and McIntosh pieces from the same era.
We stock Avalon sideboards, chest of drawers, and storage pieces, all properly restored and ready to use.
