Part of G-Plan's sought-after Form 5 range, this piece perfectly captures the clean, architectural styling that made British mid century furniture so popular. The warm teak grain is beautifully figured throughout, complemented by the understated recessed detailing and balanced proportions that give the unit a refined, uncluttered appearance.
The layout is exceptionally practical. At the top, a pair of cupboards provide enclosed storage, while the open shelving below offers the ideal place for books, ceramics, plants or favourite decorative objects. The central fall-front cabinet opens to reveal a generous work surface, creating a compact storage space or drinks station that can be neatly tucked away when not in use. Additional shelving inside provides useful organisation for paperwork, glassware or everyday essentials.
The lower section features sliding cupboard doors concealing further storage, making this a highly functional piece that works equally well in a living room, dining room, study or bedroom.

R. Bennett was a British furniture designer whose work for G-Plan in the mid-to-late 1960s demonstrated a sophisticated understanding of Scandinavian modernism. His first major range, Quadrille, launched in 1964-65 with sculptural sleigh legs, angular handles, and teak paired with rosewood or afromosia detailing. The range was relatively short-lived, withdrawn after G-Plan’s Fresco range launched in 1967, making Quadrille pieces less common than other G-Plan furniture from the era.
Bennett’s second range, Form 5, launched in 1967 with a more minimalist, modular approach. The collection featured interlocking wall units, brass drop handles, and distinctive purple velvet-lined drawers, offering practical storage solutions for smaller British homes. Both ranges showed Bennett’s skill at adapting Scandinavian design principles to British manufacturing, creating furniture that worked as well functionally as it looked aesthetically.
