Beautiful pair of Danish Modern coffee tables, designed by Poul H. Poulsen for Gangso Møbler. Crafted in the late 20th century, these vintage tables showcase the beautiful contrast of natural slate tile inlays set into rich, warm solid teak frames – a hallmark of Gangso’s renowned craftsmanship.

Each table features a geometric grid of multi-tonal slate tiles, creating a tactile, organic surface that is not only visually captivating but also incredibly practical. The tiles are heat- and stain-resistant, making these tables ideal for everyday use while retaining their sculptural appeal. The clean-lined teak frames are sturdy and well-proportioned, with softly rounded edges that reflect the era’s design ethos.

These tables work beautifully as a matching pair for larger lounge layouts, or can be split up to create a cohesive look across adjoining spaces. Whether styled in a mid-century modern interior or layered into a more eclectic scheme, their materiality and understated design add quiet sophistication.

Founded in Denmark in the 1970s, Gangso Møbler became a beloved name in Danish furniture, especially for its innovative use of ceramic and stone tile surfaces combined with solid wood. Their pieces reflect the best of Scandinavian modernism: functional, durable and timelessly stylish. Collaborating with designers like Poul H. Poulsen, Gangso created furniture that remains highly collectible for its quality and visual impact.

Very good vintage condition. Slate tiles are intact with no chips or cracks. Teak frames show only light signs of age-related wear, consistent with careful use.  Please see images for more details of the tables condition.

Gangso Møbler

Founded in Denmark in the 1970s, Gangso gained popularity throughout the 1980s and 1990s with furniture that was both stylish and built to last. Their designs are unmistakably Danish - clean lines, practical proportions and a focus on natural materials. Many of their most recognisable pieces feature rich solid teak or light oak frames, paired with inlaid tile tops that are heat- and stain-resistant, making them as functional as they are beautiful.

Gangso’s furniture was often designed with everyday family life in mind, yet their pieces have stood the test of time both aesthetically and structurally. Today, original Gangso Mobler items are sought-after in vintage and mid-century interiors for their retro charm and lasting quality.

As with all mid-century Danish design, form followed function - and Gangso’s thoughtful details, such as extendable leaves, removable tiles and subtle joinery, continue to appeal to modern vintage collectors.
