A classic example of British mid-century design, this compact teak sideboard was designed by Victor Bramwell Wilkins for G-Plan as part of the celebrated Fresco range.
If you're trying to bring mid-century pieces into a room that's not stuck in a 1960s time warp, this is the kind of sideboard that actually works. The Fresco range was designed to be adaptable - the proportions are restrained enough that it doesn't dominate, the teak works with contemporary interiors, and at 81cm wide it's genuinely useful without requiring a dedicated wall.
The typical use these days is media storage – the height puts your turntable at a comfortable level, and the cupboard space handles the reality of modern equipment (routers, cables, the vinyl you’re actually playing vs. the vinyl that’s just for display). But it functions equally well as a drinks cabinet, extra kitchen storage, or just a surface that’s more interesting than a flat-pack console table.
The curved handles are what make the Fresco range immediately recognisable – that sculptural form that was modern in the 1970s and still reads as considered design now. They’re original to this piece, undamaged, and they’ve been cleaned and polished as part of the restoration.
We’ve refinished the teak with oil after stripping the original finish. This brings the grain forward and gives you a surface that responds to natural light rather than reflecting it back like varnish does. The cabinet interior has been cleaned and the adjustable shelf is stable and level.
At the time of listing, we have three of these small Fresco sideboards and one matching corner unit in stock. These can be configured together to create a longer media unit or room divider, or used individually. Each piece has been individually restored and has its own character.
Professionally restored. Original handles and catches. Very good condition throughout.

Victor Bramwell Wilkins was the visionary designer behind G-Plan’s most iconic furniture ranges, shaping the face of British mid-century modern design from the brand’s founding in 1953 through the 1970s. Working as G-Plan’s in-house designer, Wilkins possessed an extraordinary talent for identifying emerging international trends and translating them into designs that resonated with British homes. His debut Brandon range in 1953 introduced clean lines and light oak to post-war Britain, while the sophisticated Tola & Black range of 1957 brought Italian modernism to a mass audience.
Wilkins’ crowning achievements came in the 1960s with the Brasilia range – a brilliant fusion of Brazilian modernist curves and Scandinavian craftsmanship – and the legendary Fresco collection of 1967, which became G-Plan’s most successful range and remained in production for two decades. His designs, characterised by sculptural teak forms, integrated handles, and elegant functionality, made sophisticated modern furniture accessible to ordinary families. Today, Wilkins is celebrated as one of the hidden masters of British design, whose work defined an era and continues to be highly sought after by collectors worldwide.
