Mid Century G-Plan Form Five Desk with Shelving Unit

This piece has found its new home, but plenty of other one-of-a-kind finds await you. Discover similar pieces.

This understated desk with shelving unit comes from G-Plan’s well-regarded Form Five range and is a great example of the brand’s move towards cleaner, more modern design in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

The single drawer is neatly integrated into the design, offering practical storage without interrupting the clean lines of the piece. Finished with the original square brass handle, it’s a subtle but characterful detail typical of the Form Five range. Inside, the drawer is clean and well cared for, with plenty of space for paperwork, stationery, or everyday essentials – exactly what you want from a working desk that was designed to be used, not just looked at.

Designed by Roger Bennett, the Form 5 collection was G-Plan’s response to changing interiors – simpler lines, recessed detailing, and furniture designed to work quietly and efficiently in everyday homes. The result is a range that still feels balanced and relevant today.

Practical without feeling utilitarian, this is the sort of furniture that adapts easily to modern living while retaining the character and build quality that made G-Plan such a trusted name.

Excellent vintage condition. The teak has been cleaned and lightly restored, preserving its beautiful patina and depth of colour. Minor age-related marks consistent with careful use.
