A beautifully proportioned mid century teak sideboard by Homeworthy, dating from around the 1960s and combining plenty of practical storage with some really lovely period detailing.
The sideboard features four generous drawers arranged in two banks, giving the front a wonderfully balanced, symmetrical appearance. Each drawer is finished with a pair of distinctive sculpted wooden handles, adding just enough detail without interrupting the clean lines of the piece.
Warm teak drawer fronts are framed by darker timber detailing, which continues along the gently rounded top edge and lower rail. The sideboard sits on a raised underframe with slim legs and side stretchers, giving such a substantial piece a much lighter appearance.
The drawers are well constructed with traditional dovetailed joints and provide an excellent amount of storage, making this a particularly versatile piece for a living room, dining room or bedroom.
The teak has a lovely warm colour and natural grain throughout, with the beautifully shaped handles and contrasting darker wood giving the sideboard plenty of character.
A handsome and very usable piece of 1960s British mid century furniture, with an understated design that would sit easily alongside both vintage and contemporary interiors.

Homeworthy was a British furniture manufacturer producing modern domestic furniture during the mid 20th century, with many surviving pieces dating from the 1950s, 60s and 70s.
The company is particularly associated with practical, well-made bedroom and occasional furniture, including dressing tables, chests of drawers, desks, sideboards and record cabinets. Many Homeworthy designs reflect the growing influence of Scandinavian modernism on British furniture during the period, with clean lines, tapered legs, teak finishes and contrasting solid timber handles.
Homeworthy furniture was designed for everyday use and typically combines understated styling with robust construction. Dovetailed drawers, simple cabinet forms and distinctive detailing are common features across many surviving examples.
