A beautifully designed mid century teak sideboard cabinet by Nathan Furniture, dating from the 1960s.
This is a particularly versatile piece, combining classic sideboard storage with an upper display cabinet and drinks compartment. The layout works brilliantly - three dovetailed drawers to the left, generous shelved cupboard storage below, sliding glass display doors above, and a drop-down cocktail cabinet complete with its original pull-out serving shelf and fitted, freshly lined cutlery drawer.
The design has that clean, understated Nathan look that works so well in modern interiors. Slim tapered legs, softly framed edges, smoked sliding glass doors, and sculpted solid teak handles give the piece a warm, architectural feel without being overly heavy.
The teak grain and colour throughout are especially nice on this example, with a rich golden tone and plenty of depth across the cabinet fronts and top surfaces. Inside, the cabinet retains some lovely original details too, including the fitted drawer dividers and Nathan Quality label.
Nathan Furniture became one of Britain’s best-known mid century furniture makers during the 1960s and 70s, producing practical, well-made teak furniture designed for everyday living. Their pieces are known for combining useful storage with clean Scandinavian-inspired styling, and remain hugely popular today for exactly that reason.
A really useful piece that would work equally well as a dining room sideboard, home bar, media unit, or statement storage piece in an open-plan living space.
Presented in very good vintage condition with light age-related wear in keeping with its age and use. The drawers run smoothly and the cabinet has been cleaned and polished ready for use.
