Henning Kjærnulf Danish Furniture

Henning Kjærnulf was a Danish furniture designer and architect active during the 1960s and 1970s, creating furniture that evolved from classic Scandinavian modernism to bold sculptural expression. Working with manufacturers including EG Kvalitetsmøbel, Nyrup Møbelfabrik, and Vejle Stole og Møbelfabrik, he designed furniture primarily in oak, teak, and rosewood characterised by distinctive carved details and architectural forms. Kjærnulf is particularly recognized for his “Razorblade” chairs with their sharp, angular carved backrests, and his range of carved oak furniture that combined traditional craftsmanship with dramatic ornamentation. His dining chairs, lounge chairs, sideboards, and tables represent quality mid-century Danish design with unique sculptural elements that distinguish his work from his contemporaries.
