A beautifully proportioned Danish teak draw leaf dining table designed by Henning Kjærnulf for Vejle Stole og Møbelfabrik, dating from the 1960s.
Crafted in teak with softly rounded corners, elegant tapered legs, and subtle sculpted detailing beneath the top, this is a classic example of understated Danish modern design. The clean lines are balanced by gentle organic shaping throughout, giving the table a warm and refined feel without looking overly formal.
The table features two integrated draw leaves which slide smoothly out from either end, transforming it from a compact everyday dining table into a generous size for entertaining. The extension leaves retain a slightly richer tone from years spent tucked away, creating a lovely contrast in the grain and colour of the teak.
A versatile piece that would work equally well in a dining room, kitchen, or open-plan living space. The proportions are practical, while the craftsmanship and detailing elevate it far beyond a standard dining table.

Presented in very good vintage condition with minor signs of age and use in keeping with its age. The draw leaves operate smoothly and the table has a beautifully warm teak tone throughout.

Founded in 1907 in Vejle, Denmark, Vejle Stole og Møbelfabrik built its reputation on traditional woodworking techniques and handcrafted furniture production. During the mid-20th century, the company transitioned to manufacturing modern designs influenced by the Danish modern movement, creating furniture characterized by clean lines, minimalist forms, and natural materials including teak, rosewood, and leather. The company collaborated with several prominent Danish designers throughout the 1950s and 1960s, including Henning Kjærnulf, Arne Vodder, Johannes Andersen, and Erik Buch, producing dining tables, coffee tables, chairs, and storage pieces that balanced functional design with quality craftsmanship. In the 1980s, Vejle Stole og Møbelfabrik merged with other Danish furniture manufacturers and reformed as Skovby Møbelfabrik, which continues production today.

Henning Kjærnulf was a Danish furniture designer and architect active during the mid-20th century, though biographical details about him remain scarce. Working primarily with Danish manufacturers including EG Kvalitetsmøbel, Nyrup Møbelfabrik, Vejle Stole og Møbelfabrik, Bruno Hansen, and Sorø Stolefabrik throughout the 1960s and 1970s, he created furniture that evolved from classic Scandinavian minimalism to more sculptural, expressive forms. His earlier work reflected the clean lines and functional design typical of Danish modernism, while his later pieces pushed toward dramatic ornamentation and architectural detail.
Kjærnulf is particularly recognised for his “Razorblade” chairs, named for their distinctive carved backrests with sharp, angular profiles, and his range of carved oak furniture that combined traditional woodworking techniques with bold sculptural elements. His designs spanned tables, dining chairs, lounge chairs, sideboards, and cabinets, characterised by quality craftsmanship and unique shapes that distinguished him from his contemporaries. Working primarily in oak, teak, and rosewood, Kjærnulf created pieces with carved details and architectural forms that balanced modernist principles with expressive ornamentation. The limited information about his personal life adds to the enigmatic quality of his work, which speaks clearly through its distinctive design language.
