A beautifully functional British-made twin spotlight floor lamp by Ring Lighting, dating from the 1960s or early 1970s. This adjustable task lamp exemplifies the industrial-meets-domestic aesthetic that defined mid-century British lighting design.
The lamp features two independently adjustable conical shades in cream enamel finish, each with characteristic perforated ventilation panels that prevent heat build-up while adding distinctive period detail. Both arms can be positioned precisely where you need them - perfect for reading, working, or creating ambient lighting in different zones of a room.
Mounted on a sturdy circular weighted base with a tubular stem, the construction uses well-engineered clamp joints that allow smooth adjustment and hold position reliably. The original maker’s label is present inside the shades, marked “RING-LIGHTING CERT NO 50438” with British electrical certification.
Ring Lighting produced quality domestic and industrial lighting throughout the mid-20th century, and this dual-arm floor model represents their more sophisticated output – functional workshop-style engineering adapted for the home.
The cream finish shows very light wear consistent with decades of use. The shades retain their shape well with no significant dents or damage to the perforations. The lamp has been PAT tested.
Rated for 230V, maximum 60W bulbs per shade.
A versatile and characterful piece that brings proper mid-century task lighting functionality to modern interiors.

Ring Lighting was a British lighting manufacturer active during the mid-20th century, producing a range of domestic and industrial lighting solutions for the UK market. Operating during the 1960s and 1970s, the company manufactured task lamps, spotlights and adjustable floor and desk lights that combined functional workshop-style engineering with designs suited to modern homes.
Their products were certified to British electrical safety standards, marked with individual certification numbers - a reflection of the rigorous quality control applied to electrical goods in post-war Britain. Ring Lighting's designs drew from the broader European industrial lighting aesthetic of the period, featuring adjustable arms, conical metal shades, and practical details like ventilation perforations for heat management.
While perhaps less widely documented than some of their continental European contemporaries, Ring Lighting produced well-engineered, durable pieces that have stood the test of time. Their lamps represented the practical British approach to mid-century design - prioritising functionality and robust construction over decorative flourishes, yet still achieving a clean, purposeful aesthetic that fits comfortably in both period and contemporary interiors.
Examples with original maker's labels and certification marks are increasingly sought after by collectors of British vintage lighting, particularly multi-arm floor models and adjustable desk lamps that showcase the company's engineering capabilities.
